Stress, overwhelm, and burnout
Chronic stress and nervous system overwhelm
Every session is tailored to you. Depending on your needs and goals, our work together may draw from any of these approaches.
Relational & Attachment-Focused Therapy
The relationships we grew up with shape how we connect today. This approach helps you understand those patterns — and build more secure, authentic ways of relating to yourself and others.
Evidence-Based & Cognitive Therapy
Together we'll notice the thoughts and patterns that keep you stuck — and gently explore new ways of relating to them. Practical, grounded, and focused on real change.
Internal Family Systems (IFS) — Informed
Drawing on IFS-informed principles, we'll gently explore the different 'parts' parts that hold old wounds, harsh inner critics, or protective patterns that once kept us safe — but now get in the way. Helping you build a more compassionate relationship with yourself from the inside out.
Mind–Body & Somatic Therapy
Your body holds what your mind sometimes can't say. We'll gently tune into physical sensations, nervous system responses, and the wisdom your body carries — alongside your emotional experience.
My Approach
Meet Johanna Aguirre, LMHCA (she/her)
I'm a Licensed Mental Health Counselor Associate practicing in Bellingham, Washington and via telehealth across Washington State. I work with adults who are outwardly high-functioning yet internally feel overwhelmed or unsettled by the pace and expectations of modern life. Many of my clients are navigating thresholds of change — grief, burnout, identity shifts, spiritual uncertainty, or chronic stress that has quietly accumulated over time. My approach centers on creating a secure therapeutic container where you can slow down, feel genuinely supported, and explore what has been weighing on you. Our work focuses on nervous system regulation, somatic awareness, and whole-person integration — honoring both emotional depth and the body's wisdom. Therapy is collaborative, grounded, and paced with care and respect for your unique process. I offer sessions in English and Spanish, and I welcome clients from diverse cultural backgrounds and faith traditions.
